We initially founded the Gang of Wolves in order to encourage people to ride their bikes and have fun, but it evolved into a way for people to become closer to their community and participate in each others' creativitiy. Before we went on one of our first big rides, an "art gallery crawl," we met up and made art together. Everyone got so jazzed about the art that they started talking about all the other creative things they had going on in their lives. Then everyone got jazzed about those things, but not everyone knew each other or had everyone else's phone numbers. I wanted to give people a way to keep in touch, keep that jazz going and make sure to enjoy it in the future. So I took down everyone's email address and after the bike ride I invited them to a fresh new google group, using bike riding as our social glue. I moderate the group to make sure that nothing gets out of hand and everyone gets the experience they want out the group. We have 80 members and we continue to grow, routinely posting about exciting local events and curating rides that let people experience their local culture, space, history & surroundings.
